BOM June 2013

june block of the month
When Karen looks at this painting she sees the rail fence block, so, for June, rail fence it is. Karen encourages people to dig into their scrap baskets for this one and make lots of 5 strip blocks. Below is a sample block. Click on the BOM tab above for Krieghoff’s bio and more info about design.
This block is due June’s meeting.
june block of the month2

BOM May 2013 - due June guild meeting

I'm sure I say this every month, but that's just because it's true; Karen's interpretation of this painting is fantastic. She uses 4 color palettes; (1) slates to represent the lone farmer in the field, (2) mostly medium grey-greens to represent the sprout crop, (3) dark grey-greens to represent the mature crop, and (4) golds to represent the ripe crop.

Below are two options for the block construction -
The Ukrainian Pioneer No. 6, 1971-1976
Check out the BOM tab above for full details of the block construction and a brief bio of William Kurelek.
